History

Since our company was founded, we have contributed to nearly all disciplines of vehicle development over the years. Our driving force is the consistent resolution of technical challenges to support our customers effectively.

Delivering our services on time and at the highest quality has always been our top priority. This requires agility and flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and requirements. Both in our projects and in the continuous development of our service portfolio, we align ourselves with current challenges while keeping an eye on the future.

Founding of GOTECH Fahrzeugentwicklungs- und Konstruktionsgesellschaft mbH.

GOTECH GmbH was founded by Gerald and Berenice Gommel. Gerald Gommel takes on the role of Technical Director, while his wife, Berenice Gommel, becomes Managing Director.

The company’s first headquarters is the historic Ölmühle (oil mill) in the picturesque Strudelbachtal valley in Weissach.

First Project with the newly founded "smart" Brand

The first project kicks off with the newly established automotive brand smart, covering the entire process from concept development to series production.

The team’s fast response times and creative solutions in the smart project attract new customers and additional assignments. As a result, the company grows, increasing its workforce to 15 employees.

Expansion of services: EE systems and electrical harnesses

We continue our involvement with smart derivatives from the very beginning, developing plastic components for both interior and exterior applications. Additionally, we enter new customer projects, focusing on the development of control and display systems, including the design of associated electrical harness systems.

As a result, our team continues to grow, leading to the move into our first dedicated company building on Bergkiefernstraße in Weissach.

Founding of Subsidiary AMGOTECH LLC in Detroit

BorgWarner commissions GOTECH with pre-development projects for emission control systems (Clean Diesel). Initially focusing on exhaust gas recirculation systems, the collaboration expands to the development of innovative turbocharger concepts, leading to multiple patent applications.

To ensure close coordination with the customer on-site, AMGOTECH LLC is founded in Auburn Hills, Detroit.

Philip Gommel and Lars Helfer appointed as authorized signatories

Philip Gommel focuses primarily on design validation for both interior and exterior development, as well as prototype manufacturing. Our expertise includes the development and production of functional prototypes, vehicle modifications, and the manufacturing of pre-series and replacement parts.

Lars Helfer specializes in the development and design of electrical and electronic systems across the entire vehicle. This includes ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), control and display interfaces, and their electrical harnesses. With the electrification of the powertrain, our expertise in wiring system development expands to include high-voltage systems.

Continued Expansion of Engineering Support Services

As design, simulation, and testing processes must be completed in ever-shorter cycles and with greater cost efficiency, we continue to refine our service portfolio. We further develop our expertise in mechanical simulation, topology optimization, and lighting simulation, while expanding our laboratory with advanced measurement systems.

With the growing need for workshop and lab space, we move into our new company building Im Bühl 25 in Weissach-Flacht.

GOTECH Expands Its Services with a VR-Based Driving Simulation Environment

Our Virtual Reality-based driving simulator bridges the gap in realistic interior testing during early development phases. This technology enables cost-efficient testing of current CAD models and functional aspects of control and display elements.

At the end of 2021, the AVEAS research project, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, was launched. As part of the research consortium, GOTECH is further developing the driving simulation environment to study highly automated driving functions and occupant behavior in critical traffic situations.
